Our Centre Philosophy
We create a home away from home for children in our learning community. We do this by building open and positive relationships with whanau (families) to encourage collaboration, encompassing the diversity of our community. These warm, trusting and loving partnerships form the backbone for children’s learning to support each child’s sense of mana whenua (belonging).
We provide a beautiful learning environment inspired by the Reggio Emilia & RIE approach to teaching and learning. This is a positive, affirming learning space that enables children to freely explore and lead their own learning, supporting them to blossom intellectually, physically, socially and artistically. The environment is considered to be an important teacher and is set to intentionally encourage curiosity and discovery, extending children’s dispositional learning.
We believe that the arts and strong connections with papatuanuku (nature) set the stage for learning and ignite that initial piece of wonder and creativity in a child that positively influences their entire lives. Peaceful music is purposefully incorporated into the learning environment to support atheistic ang cognitive development. We use the 100 languages of children to reinforce their own perspectives of the world around them and their place in it.
We foster the well-being of children through good nutrition and active movement to fuel children’s busy bodies and growing minds.
We recognise Maori as the first people of Aotearoa. Te Ao Maori is woven into our daily practice.
